Quarantine Failure

This is what happens when I'm left home alone on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Most people would do cool stuff like watch sports or solve world hunger or whatever, but there I was building a little 8" x 8" stage for my little miniature creatures to fight over all for my amusement. I am a cruel creator, given to whim and flights of fancy not beholden to any cosmic rules other than, "This is fun" or "I'm bored".

I wanted to build a little cross section of a space ship, and my original plan was very similar to how this turned out. Everything used in the construction (minus the models and plaster of paris) could be considered "found art" in that I found the various pieces while out walking. I have a whole drawer full of cool little bits and pieces that will eventually end up used for something like this. Those column things in the middle of the frame? Ink pens. That black door-looking thing in the monster's hand? Found that in the parking lot (yes, I wash everything when I bring it inside!). There are two wall lights mounted higher up, just out of frame that I made from a tea light container, cut in half. The one on the left has a hole drilled through the board so I can run an LED bulb through, while the other is smashed and broken looking.

It is so easy to make little dioramas like this. This thing took all of, what, 3 hours? Something I learned was that I painted the monster specifically for this picture. That means he's only half done. His other half? Completely not done. The Space Marine was painted years ago and has been waiting patiently on my shelf for a chance to go in front of the camera.

Before you ask, yes that is a poorly painted bunny on his shoulderpad. Some Space Marine Chapters take names like the Ultramarines, Blood Angels, White Scars, Blood Drinkers, or what-have-you, but my Chapter is named the Emperor's Cutest. Their Chapter symbol is a smiley sun face (think the Raisin Bran box) and his right shoulder identifies him as a member of the Fluffy Bunnies squad. Normally he would be backed up by 5 buddies (one with a Heavy Bolter, another with a Plasma Gun) and cruising around in a Razorback APC, but that's really expensive and I just don't have the cash to special order all the parts I would need to finish the army. Some day though...

...

What was I talking about? Man, I have GOT to stop writing these just before bed.

Suffer not the EXIF to live.
